Localization of the Aboriginal Nations in Québec - Land Transactions

Localization of the Arboriginal Nations in Québec - Land Transactions
by Jacqueline Beaulieu

This publication gives a detailed account of land transactions in Québec, along with the boundaries of Indian reserves and settlements and the boundaries of Category I and I-N lands pursuant to the James Bay and Northen Québec Agreement and the Northeastern Québec Agreement.

Changes in land tenure over the years are listed for each site, based on information obtained from official land transaction documents. Maps are also provided to illustrate the current size of each site.

In addition, the publication presents information on legislation, a list of the past and present names of the Native communities, the names of landholding corporations, population details and data on the size of the sites mentioned. A folding key at the end of the text explains the various symbols used on the maps.
