Geoscience Work

The eighteen projects of geoscientific knowledge acquisition and treatment that have been or will be completed by the end of 2010-2011. They fall into several categories:

  • Geological inventories
  • Quaternary inventories
  • Geochemical inventories
  • Geophysical inventories
  • Mineral potential assessment

2010-2011 Geoscientific Programming

Fifteen geoscientific knowledge acquisition projects have been completed in 2009-2010. They fall into three categories:

  • Far North projects;
  • the Copper Plan;
  • Quaternary Period projects.

2009-2010 Geoscientific Programming

Most of the geoscience work underway is part of an ambitious plan for accelerated acquisition of geoscientific knowledge in northern Québec, whose development and implementation have been entrusted to Géologie Québec, under Québec’s Mineral Strategy, unveiled in June 2009.

The following technical session, presented during Québec Exploration 2009:

  • reviews the government, department and geoscience policies that influenced the development of this knowledge acquisition plan;
  • shows the level of geoscientific knowledge available, as well as recent and upcoming projects; and
  • presents some already observed effects of the geological, geochemical and geophysical components.
