Description
Blocks of Proterozoic granitoid
rock (granite and gneiss of the Grenville Province)
from a Quaternary granular deposit located southwest
of La Baie. The granular material is screened,
but not crushed, to produce six categories of
natural stone based on particle diameter*. The
stone is used for building septic tanks and protecting
riverbanks. It is also a component in landscaping
work such as driveways, walkway borders and sidewalks
or decorating flowerbeds.
*Given that the diameter of gravel varies from
0.5 to 20 cm, that a pebble's varies from 20 to
60 cm and that a block's is greater than 60 cm.
