Description
Anorthosite belonging to the Lac-Saint-Jean Anorthositic
Suite. Both quarries, which have been in operation
since the end of 1940 and the beginning of 1960,
are located northeast of Sainte-Monique-du-Lac-Saint-Jean,
in the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean Region. The
stone, available in rough blocks, is mainly used
to produce cut-to-size panels, slabs, tiles, monuments,
and curbstones.
