Description
Bluish black slate belonging to the Témiscouata
Formation. The quarry, which has been in operation since 1997, is
located in Saint-Marc-du-Lac-Long, in the Bas-Saint-Laurent Region.
The stone, mainly used for roofing tiles, can be split to a thickness
of three millimetres. It is exported to France, England, Belgium,
Holland, Luxembourg, Germany, and the United States. Slate is also
used to produce landscaping stone.
