Description
Steatite and talc-carbonate rocks occurring near
the contacts of the Pennington Sheet, which is part of the Thetford-Mines
Ophiolitic Complex. The rocks have been quarried in the East Broughton
area of the Chaudière-Appalaches Region since 1938. The stone
is used to produce refractory stone for firebricks, carving stone,
and decorative stone.
