The regulation dealing with the walleye fishery has been amended as the result of implementation of Québec's 2011-2016 Walleye Management Plan. The changes were needed to improve the health of walleye populations and fishery quality.

New Rules for Transporting Walleyes

In most zones in Québec, walleye and sauger must be transported whole or in fillets with the skin wholly intact. This is to permit identification of the walleye species and to establish total length.
